Football icon Lionel Messi once identified the best goalkeeping display he has ever witnessed.

On the international front, Messi boasts 213 caps for Argentina, during which he has scored 128 goals.
Throughout his decorated career, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has faced some of the world’s top goalkeepers, including legends like Iker Casillas, Gianluigi Buffon, and Alisson Becker.
However, one performance that truly stood out for him was that of English goalkeeper Fraser Forster. The former Celtic shot-stopper caught Messi’s attention during Celtic’s unforgettable 2-1 victory over Barcelona in 2012.
According to the Daily Star, Messi remarked, “Fraser Forster’s performances against us were talked about for a long time.”
“There was one game in Scotland where he was not human, it is the best goalkeeping performance I have seen.”
He added: “When Victor Valdes said he was leaving we even talked about him playing here. I was sure he would end up at Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United.”
Messi’s 90th-minute goal against Forster served as a late consolation, while the 36-year-old earned the title ‘The Great Wall of Glasgow’ for his remarkable seven saves in the match.
Forster departed Celtic for Southampton in 2014, where he made 162 appearances before returning to the Scottish club on loan during the 2019/20 season.
The England international, who has six caps, signed with Tottenham Hotspur in 2022 and has since featured in 34 matches across all competitions.
On December 6, 2023, Forster extended his stay at Spurs by signing a new contract that runs until the summer of 2025.
