Loris Karius, the on-loan Liverpool goalie, has once again made the headlines for the wrong reasons after a huge howler led to his side conceding the opening goal in a 2-0 loss away to Malmo in the Europa League on Thursday.
Playing in only his second European match since May when his poor goalkeeping contributed to Liverpool’s Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, Karius seemed to lose his concentration before a deflected cross looped over him and entered his net.
After being loaned out to Besiktas during the summer, Karius will have hoped to re-start his career with the Turkish side, but the German’s latest mistake again, highlights why Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp decided to loan the 25-year-old.
Goalless at half time, Karius’s mistake came in the 53rd minute after Andreas Vindheim whipped in a cross that was deflected off Caner Erkin before looping over the goalkeeper at the near post.

A 76th-minute penalty from Markus Rosenberg sealed a bad night for Karius and his Besiktas team-mates who slumped to their first group stage defeat in this year’s tournament.
Besiktas paid £2.25 million loan fee to to get Karius from Liverpool in August, and will pay £7.25m if the deal becomes permanent.
The Premier League club however paid £4.75m for Karius in 2016 and will receive 20 per cent of any future fee should Besiktas also choose to sell him.
