Man Utd approve sale of 11 first-team players as Ratcliffe begins squad overhaul

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, has authorized a significant revamp of the club’s primary squad this summer to accelerate transformations at Old Trafford.

The 71-year-old finalized his equity injection into the club on Tuesday, becoming its largest individual shareholder.

Ratcliffe has swiftly initiated alterations at the Theatre of Dreams, with Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth poised to come aboard from Manchester City and Newcastle United, respectively.

Following the establishment of suitable leadership at the senior level, Ratcliffe and his INEOS team will prioritize adjustments to the playing roster.

Ratcliffe indicated on Wednesday that it will require ‘two or three years’ for the club to contend with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to ESPN, this summer’s transfer window will focus on streamlining the first-team squad, with 11 players slated for sale.

Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jadon Sancho, Donny van de Beek, Brandon Williams, and Facundo Pellistri are all up for grabs.

Maguire and McTominay were both on the verge of departing last season, with West Ham showing interest in acquiring both players.

Sancho opted for a loan move to Dortmund in January following a disagreement with Erik ten Hag, while Van de Beek is struggling during his loan stint with Frankfurt.

Anthony Martial’s contract is expiring, and he will be let go once it lapses.

Ten Hag aims to bolster his squad by acquiring at least one center-back, a central midfielder, and a forward.

United are navigating a Financial Fair Play tightrope, and their failure to secure qualification for the Champions League would only exacerbate their situation.
