Jesse Lingard may not be leaving Manchester United this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer very impressed with the player and willing to bring him back into the first-team.
The England international found game time hard to come by at United and was forced to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window ,joining West Ham until the end of the campaign.
Despite his lack of game time in recent seasons, Lingard has been spectacular for the London side with five goals and two assists in his first seven Premier League matches for the club.
His form has been so remarkable that he even earned a recall to the England national team and was named Man of the Match for his display against San Marino on Thursday.
Lingard was expected to make a permanent move to West Ham for a fee of around £15m, but now The Sun claim that the Red devils have had a rethink.
Solskjaer has been impressed by Lingard’s return to form and he is willing to bring him back in from the cold and believes he could be an important part of the team.
Despite freezing Lingard out of the team, the Norwegian manager has always been a huge fan of the midfielder and is happy to see him full of confidence once again.
United are even considering offering Lingard a new deal, with his current £100,000-a-week contract due to expire in 2022 when he would be able to leave the Old Trafford on a free transfer.
West Ham are desperate to keep Lingard and were hoping to land him on a permanent deal for around £15 million, though United would now expect an offer in excess of £20m if they will allow him leave.
Lingard has added value for United as a home grown player, while Juan Mata’s potential exit – the Spanish star only has a few months left on his current contract – would leave United with space for a creative player.
