Man Utd make shock deadline day move for another Chelsea player

Manchester United have made a surprising move for yet another Chelsea player as they continue negotiations over Raheem Sterling.

The Red Devils have shown interest in acquiring Sterling, who has been advised to leave Stamford Bridge by Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca….

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are also considering a last-minute deal for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, who may be sold by the west London club before the 11pm transfer deadline.

Chelsea brought in Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa in the summer of 2022, and he made 14 Premier League appearances in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

However, the 20-year-old struggled to secure regular first-team opportunities last season and has not been included in any of Chelsea’s matchday squads under Maresca.

While Manchester United have been in talks to sign Sterling, it now seems more likely that the winger will join Arsenal.

Despite this, Chelsea are still expected to reach an agreement with United, with Jadon Sancho moving closer to a surprising switch to Stamford Bridge.

Sancho’s potential move to west London would be a separate deal, not connected to any possible transfer involving England U20 international Chukwuemeka.

Chukwuemeka is among several players Chelsea are open to offloading before the summer transfer window closes, and Jamie Redknapp has expressed sympathy for some of the players currently in the Stamford Bridge squad.

‘I feel sorry for some of the players [at Chelsea],’ the former England midfielder told Sky Sports.

‘There have been things that I obviously don’t like, with things that have obviously happened on the matchday – when Sterling put out the statement, I thought that was inappropriate.

‘When you’ve got so many players you’re not going to keep everyone happy and that’s the predicament they have.

‘You cannot force a player to leave. Some players will want to play some will be happy to sit on the bench and just train. it doesn’t help the atmosphere at the club.’
