Man Utd plot ‘two-player swap deal’ to hijack Arsenal’s move for Declan Rice

Arsenal could have their hopes of signing Declan Rice scuppered at the last minute with Manchester United ready to negotiate with West Ham United.

West Ham have already conceded defeat in trying to keep Rice this summer after their Europa Conference League win.

They are still requesting a huge fee for the England midfielder with Arsenal leading the way for his signature. The Gunners have had two offers rejected, the latter worth up to £90m.

Arsenal’s second offer was said to be close to what West Ham are after, suggesting an agreement isn’t far away from being done.

But United sense that a deal could be hijacked with the Telegraph claiming that they’re considering a player-plus-cash offer for Rice.

It is reported that either Harry Maguire or McTominay could be offered with West Ham interested in the midfielder.

Both players have been put up for sale by the Red Devils this summer to help raise funds for Erik ten Hag.

But improving their midfield options is seen as a major priority with the hope they’re able to move ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Rice.

Arsenal are still believed to be favoured by the West Ham skipper and a move to the Emirates is seen as ‘far more likely’.

But, Manchester United’s interest could play into West Ham’s hands to spark a possible bidding war.

West Ham manager David Moyes is said to be a big fan of Maguire with the England star falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

And there are some concerns on whether Maguire would accept a wage decrease from the current deal he earns at the theatre of dreams.
