Manchester United respond to Real Madrid over transfer of Pogba

Manchester United have told Real Madrid to forget their plan on signing Paul Pogba this summer window, according to reports in Spain.

The France international is one of Zinedine Zidane’s primary targets for the summer transfer window as he looks to rebuild his Madrid team.

Pogba, meanwhile, is interested in leaving United this summer and is open to linking up with Madrid manager Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to AS, Madrid have already opened talks over a deal for Pogba and asked Manchester to set a price for the World Cup winner.

But United’s response was that Paul Pogba is not for sale and they have no intention of offloading the 26-year-old as he remains very vital to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

Madrid, therefore, require Pogba to make a transfer request that he wants to leave Old Trafford this summer in order for talks to continue.

Reports in Spain have also claimed that Zinedine has had a disagreement with Florentino Perez over signing Pogba as the Madrid president would prefer to sign Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.

And speaking last week, Eriksen revealed that he would be open to leaving Tottenham in order to sign for Real Madrid this summer.

‘I feel that I am a place in my career where I might want to try something new,’ Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet.

‘I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

‘Real Madrid is a step up but then it would take Real Madrid picking up the phone and making contact with Tottenham and say that they want Christian. And that they haven’t done as far as I know.’
