Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has cautioned goalkeeper Robert Sanchez that ‘anything can happen’ while the summer transfer window remains open.
Maresca’s remarks come in the context of reports suggesting Chelsea is nearing an agreement to sign highly-regarded Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen ahead of the new season.

The west London club has already submitted an initial offer for Jorgensen, 22, which now casts uncertainty on Sanchez’s future at Stamford Bridge.
Sanchez asserts he’s ‘the right guy’ for the style of play Maresca aims to introduce at Chelsea and is determined to compete with Jorgensen for the No.1 position.
Maresca has now decided to address Sanchez, 26, who only joined the Blues last year from Brighton.
‘What I can say is Robert did very well tonight and has performed well since we started,’ Maresca stated after Chelsea’s 2-2 pre-season draw against Wrexham AFC.
‘For sure, the way we want to play, the goalkeeper is very, very important – one of the main positions.
‘I don’t want to talk about players who are not Chelsea players but I am very happy with Robert.
‘At this moment we have four goalkeepers. (Djordje) Petrovic is still with us but injured. We will see with the timing.
‘When the transfer window is open, anything can happen for us and for the rest.’
Jamie Carragher criticized Chelsea’s owners for their ‘ridiculous’ decision to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino, who has since been replaced by Enzo Maresca.
‘That was probably the biggest shock I had [last] season,’ Sky Sports football pundit and Liverpool legend Carragher exclusively told Metro.co.uk.
‘I could not believe it. It’s a ridiculous decision. But, it’s just another one on the long list of ridiculous decisions Chelsea have made.’
Lesley Ugochukwu scored for Chelsea against Wrexham and was asked afterwards about what life has been like under new head coach Maresca.
‘He came with very good ideas,’ Ugochukwu said. ‘We are still learning about how he wants us to play. Everyone is putting in effort to do what he wants us to do and that is what we tried to do [against Wrexham].
‘He wants me, first of all, to be calm with the ball and to try to go forward, then trust the process and not rush it.’
