Manchester United forward Anthony Martial scored the first Premier League hat-trick of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era in the club’s 3-0 win against Sheffield United.
The France international scored the first hat-trick of his professional career as United recorded an impressive victory against the Blades at Old Trafford.
While Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat-trick in the Europa League against St Etienne in 2017, no Red devils player has scored a Premier League hat-trick in the last seven years.
In fact, the last hat-trick came in 2013 when Manchester United sealed their 20th league title under Alex Ferguson and Van Persie scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa.
Martial scored early on in the game after converting Rashford’s cross and he doubled United’s lead close to half-time when he converted from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross.
United slowed down their pace in the second half and it looked as though Anthony Martial may be denied an hat-trick as Ole Solskjaer was set to make a couple of changes.
However, the forward was on hand to lob Simon Moore after an exquisite move which involved Fernandes and Rashford.

On his first professional hatrick, Martial told MUTV: “I think the last one was a very good goal, but the first two were two goals like a real No. 9 and I know the manager is happy with these.
“I feel very good, it’s my first hat-trick in my career, I hope I will score more, the team played very good today.”
