His trophy cabinet includes ten La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies, among numerous other honors.
Messi has also claimed the prestigious Ballon d’Or eight times, a record achievement. During this summer’s Copa America, Messi shared his desire to meet one particular sportsperson.
Speaking with ESPN Argentina, Messi said: “From the sports world, I would like to have a photo with Jordan – meet him and have a photo with him.”
Much like Messi, Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest of all time in his sport.
The former basketball legend secured six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, achieving two historic three-peats from 1991-1993 and 1996-1998, remaining undefeated in each final.
Jordan not only went unbeaten in the NBA Finals but also earned the MVP award in every series he played.
On the international stage, Jordan added to his accolades by winning gold medals for Team USA in the 1984 and 1992 Olympics.
This isn’t the first time Messi has shown an interest in basketball. He has previously expressed admiration for stars like Steph Curry and LeBron James, even meeting James at an Inter Miami game last July.
Since his move to the U.S., Messi has frequently attended major sporting events, including NBA and NFL games.
