PSG may have pulled off the best free transfer in football history but having Lionel Messi in your team certainly doesn’t come cheap.
The Argentine forward has signed a two-year deal with the French club, with the option of a third, less than 24 hours after giving an emotional press conference in his farewell to Barcelona.
Messi is now in Paris after flying from Barcelona with his family, and his unveiling took place at the club on Wednesday morning.
PSG supporters greeted the Argentine at the airport on Tuesday and have already flocked to the Parc des Princes to buy shirts and await his arrival as excitement continues to grow in the French capital.
Messi revealed before he left Barca he offered to take a 50% cut on his wages in order to stay at the club but with the Spanish team’s finances in turmoil a new deal could not be agreed
The 34-year-old superstar is now set to be handsomely rewarded in salary at PSG though.
PSG paid nothing as transfer fee for his move to the club as he was available on a free after his contract at Barca came to an end.

Messi is set to pocket around €35m (£29.6m) a year after tax, plus bonuses, and the player will also receive a fee believed to be in the region of £25m as a signing on bonus.
When broken down roughly, that works out as as a cool €2.91m (£2.47m) take home a month, €729,000 (£618,000) per week, or €104,000 (£88,000) day.
