Neville exposes Man Utd’s major problem under Rangnick

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has exposed the club’s major problem this campaign under their new interim manager, Ralf Rangnick.

According to the former Red devils player, the club’s problem so far this season is that they lack energy. He believes Rangnick needs to fix the defensive issues in his squad and make them tougher to play against.

United extended their unbeaten start to life under the German coach to three matches with a 1-0 victory against Norwich City over the weekend.

“I have seen a manager that is just trying to embed his principles,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“If you had said to him before that first game against Crystal Palace last week: ‘You will have two Premier League wins, two clean sheets and get the opportunity to see all of your players in Europe in midweek’, he would have snapped your handoff.

“I think I have to say the one thing that Rangnick had to try and fix first was the defensive problems and make them tougher to play against. I don’t think they were tough to play against today.

“The biggest mystery of today, for me, was why Manchester United were so lacking in energy. I thought that they would have been a lot better than that, particularly when the players that were out on the pitch have had a free week to prepare for this match.

“It is a little bit of a mystery in terms of today’s game. We will know a little bit more on Tuesday night [against Brentford], as will Ralf Rangnick. He is still finding out about his players.”

United’s next fixture is against Brentford in a Premier League tie on Tuesday.
