Michael Olise’s private feelings on re-signing for Chelsea show his mindset

The summer transfer window could see Chelsea and Manchester United vying for the signature of Crystal Palace’s talented Michael Olise.

Chelsea, under the new management of Enzo Maresca, the ex-Leicester City manager who succeeded Mauricio Pochettino, is keen on reshaping the squad.

Maresca, who has committed to a five-year contract, is reportedly interested in bringing Olise, a former Chelsea youth player, back to Stamford Bridge.

The Evening Standard has indicated that Chelsea is prepared to enter a bidding war with Manchester United for the young French winger. Olise, who left Chelsea’s academy at 14, is now 22 and has caught the attention of his former club.

Despite this interest, Olise appears to be content at Crystal Palace, especially with the team’s progress under Oliver Glasner. Glasner’s leadership has seen Palace end the previous season on a high note, with a seven-match unbeaten streak.

Olise has expressed satisfaction at Palace but also possesses high career aspirations, suggesting he would consider a move if it aligns with his goals.

The prospect of playing in the Champions League is a significant factor for Olise, and both Chelsea and Manchester United failed to qualify for the competition next season, finishing outside the top four.

However, it’s speculated that an attractive proposal could sway Olise, even if the offering club isn’t in the Champions League. Chelsea’s interest is strong, but they would need to trigger a £60 million release clause in Olise’s contract, which runs until 2027.

As Chelsea embarks on a rebuilding phase with Maresca at the helm, they are also looking to secure Tosin Adarabioyo as their first summer acquisition.

The focus may initially be on player departures, with Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah rumored to be on their way out.

Chelsea’s strategy seems to be balancing incoming talent with strategic outgoings to revitalize the squad for the upcoming season.
