A huge portion of the Manchester United dressing room is in favour of Mauricio Pochettino replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager at the club.
The Norwegian is under pressure at Old Trafford after Wednesday’s humiliating 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.
It was United’s form in Europe that was keeping the water from the door for Solskjaer but their place in the last-16 is under threat, while they are currently only four points above the relegation zone in 15th place in the League.
Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Spurs last November buy his on Monday Night Football last week did not go unnoticed by the Red devils, who are aware that the Argentine boss is ready to return to club management.
United face Everton on Saturday and a defeat could leave the club only one point above the relegation zone heading into the international break.
The club are also aware that they risk losing out on Pochettino if they continue to overlook him and the Daily Mail report there’s ‘significant’ support within the United squad for the former Tottenham manager.
While the squad do not want Solskjaer to be sacked, Pochettino would be the favoured candidate to take over should the Norwegian leave.

But, United cannot afford to overlook Pochettino for much as reports emerged the Argentine held talks with a ‘high-level’ club in recent weeks and he’s likely to accept the next offer if they fail to make their move.
Solskjaer still has the support of the board for now but there are concerns over the club’s results in recent weeks and in particular the way they lost the games.
United were criticised for their defending in Istanbul, while the 6-1 defeat to Tottenham in September was the club’s joint-worst in the Premier League.
While the defending has improved in recent games, the club’s attack suffered as Solskjaer has selected two defensive midfielders to protect the back four after the humbling loss to Spurs.
