Pochettino reveals if three Chelsea players could still leave before deadline day

Mauricio Pochettino anticipates that Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja, or Trevoh Chalobah won’t depart Chelsea before the January transfer window deadline.

The trio from Chelsea is still connected to potential moves away from Stamford Bridge, and there’s time for both incoming and outgoing transactions before the mid-season deadline, which is set to close at 11 pm on Thursday.

Since the club’s takeover in May 2022, the Blues have invested over £1 billion in new players. To adhere to financial fair play rules, selling academy graduates is a convenient method for balancing the books, as such sales are considered 100 percent profit by regulators.

Despite Gallagher’s consistent presence in Pochettino’s starting XI and donning the captain’s armband in Reece James’s absence, Chelsea may entertain offers with only 18 months remaining on his contract.

Chelsea is also open to selling Broja, who has participated in 13 league matches this season. West Ham, Fulham, and Wolves have expressed interest in acquiring the striker, and Chelsea is willing to approve the sale for around £35 million.

Chalobah has been sidelined throughout the season due to injury, and West Ham is also reportedly interested in securing his services.

In anticipation of Chelsea’s Premier League encounter with Liverpool on Wednesday, Pochettino stated that there is currently ‘no news’ regarding any potential departures for the trio from Stamford Bridge.

‘At the moment, no news,’ Pochettino said.

‘At the moment all is quiet and calm and relaxed. I was talking with the players, not only them but the whole squad, in meetings today and of course at the moment we are all relaxed about the whole situation of the squad.’

In the previous week, Pochettino drew parallels between Broja’s situation and Harry Kane’s emergence at Tottenham a decade ago, under Pochettino’s management in north London.

The Chelsea manager expressed optimism that the Albania international could handle the increasing speculation about his future and reiterated on Tuesday that a move is not presently under consideration.

‘I think I was talking last week about that. Look, there is speculation always,’ he said.

‘Speculation and we need to live with that. There is nothing to communicate and it is quiet. Everything is so quiet and relaxed here.’
