Man Utd squad ‘angry’ with Marcus Rashford as club forced to take action

Marcus Rashford is facing the displeasure of his Manchester United colleagues who are ‘frustrated’ with his lack of discipline.

The English international has attracted negative attention in the past week after being absent from training and missing Manchester United’s FA Cup victory against Newport County, citing illness.

Despite claiming to be unwell before Friday’s training session, it was revealed that Rashford had been partying in Belfast on Thursday night.

Erik ten Hag, visibly upset, pledged to handle the matter ‘internally’ and held discussions with Rashford upon his return to Carrington on Monday.

Reports suggest that the forward has been penalized with a two-week salary deduction, approximately £650,000. On Monday night, United issued the following statement:

‘Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions. This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.’

Rashford is being considered for participation in United’s upcoming match against Wolves on Thursday. However, despite the club’s desire to put the issue behind them, the rest of the squad may not be as willing to forgive.

According to The Daily Mail, the Red Devils are ‘irate’ about the 26-year-old’s conduct and ‘displeased’ that he would engage in such behavior, particularly before an FA Cup match, considering it is the only viable trophy the team can pursue this season.

It is said that: ‘The players were told he was too ill to train, and then it came out that he’d been in the nightclub. They couldn’t believe that he would do that given the situation the club is in.’

The choice to permit Rashford to participate in the match against Wolves has raised eyebrows, especially in light of the fact that former United players such as Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo faced suspensions for at least one game due to disciplinary issues.

Chris Sutton has been among the pundits critical of the player, saying on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast: ‘He thinks he’s untouchable. This hasn’t been the first time where he’s had a misdemeanour. It’s been continuous.

‘He has no respect for the manager and no respect for his teammates. That’s the bottom line.

‘He’s probably thinking he is going to outlast Ten Hag anyway but he’s out of control as far as I can see.’
