Ten Hag made Rashford train alone & rejected his plea to play vs Newport

On Sunday, Erik ten Hag isolated Marcus Rashford for individual training at Carrington and turned down the English star’s request to participate in the FA Cup clash against Newport.

Rashford was notably absent from United’s 4-2 victory over the League Two side, with Ten Hag stating before the game that his exclusion was related to an ‘internal issue.’

This followed Rashford’s documented partying in Northern Ireland on Wednesday and Thursday, leading to him reporting ill to training on Friday.

Recent revelations indicate that Rashford, having been fined £650,000 by the club, expressed a willingness to play on Sunday.

However, Ten Hag rejected this offer, Despite Rashford’s readiness to travel from Manchester to Wales on the Sunday morning before the 4.30 pm kick-off.

Ten Hag instructed the 26-year-old to undergo training at Carrington on the same day, as reported by The Times.

Following the match, Ten Hag faced challenging questions about the situation and declined to confirm whether Rashford had lied to him or not.

In a subsequent statement, United announced that Rashford had ‘taken responsibility for his actions,’ and the internal disciplinary matter is ‘now closed.’

Nevertheless, the repercussions of Rashford’s partying seem ongoing, with reports suggesting that he has incurred the displeasure of his United teammates.

Several pundits, including Chris Sutton, have criticized Rashford, with Sutton asserting that the forward is ‘out of control’ and shows ‘no respect’ for Ten Hag, believing he will ‘outlast’ the manager.

Meanwhile, Sarah Adair, who claims to have partied with Rashford, said: ‘I’m not surprised he missed training the next day given how late he got to bed and how much he’d had to drink.

‘They were drinking tequila and passing around a bottle of Patron and he also ordered a round of limoncello. He was clearly on a mission to get drunk.

‘He was clearly on a mission to have a big night. It’s not like it wasn’t planned from the start. I don’t know how he didn’t realise he would be caught out.’
