Marcus Rashford reacts to Man Utd confirming Raphael Varane transfer

Rashford on varane

Marcus Rashford is happy to see Manchester United announce a deal to sign Raphael Varane, but not just because he will play with the defender but because it will help him out on social media too.

The Red Devils confirmed that a deal has been reached with the Frenchman and club, with a transfer imminent, just awaiting a medical & ‘player terms being agreed’.

The 28-year-old os expected to be a Manchester United player by the end of the week and Rashford is happy that his mentions will not be filled with Varane’s name anymore after the announcement.

In a reply to United’s confirmation of the agreement, Rashford tweeted: ‘Can we please stop spamming my posts now, oui oui.’

Rashford will not only be delighted to see something else in his replies on social media, but also to know that the Real Madrid centre-back is lining up in defence behind him.

While on international duty with England last month, Rashford was asked about his toughest tests as a striker in his career so far and he mentioned Varane’s name.

‘That is a tough question,‘ Rashford replied when asked to mention the toughest defender he has faced in the Premier League or international level.

‘I think an individual is different to a unit. Some teams defend really well as units and it’s teams like Burnley, for example, who do everything as a four. So if one pushes up, they all push up. If one drops, they all drop. It can be, at times, difficult to find space.

‘But then there are some top individual defenders – [Virgil] van Dijk, [Sregio] Ramos.

‘I thought, when we played against Real Madrid in a friendly, that Varane played and he was quite tough. So there are a few people.‘

Rashford was also quick to react to the other major signing for the club this campaign, the arrival of Jadon Sancho for £73m from Dortmund.

The England forward tweeted: ‘Yes x. Welcome brother.’
