Currently aged 27, Rashford is spending the season on loan at Aston Villa after losing his place in Amorim’s plans at Old Trafford.

Shortly after that, Rashford told journalist Henry Winter that he was “ready for a new challenge,” sparking speculation about his next move.
Though he was linked with AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window, Rashford ultimately signed a temporary deal with Aston Villa, where he has thrived—scoring three goals and providing six assists in 15 matches under Unai Emery.
Despite his solid form, Rashford’s long-term future is still uncertain. However, Manchester Evening News reports that he is currently “the happiest he’s ever been,” with a source suggesting he values Emery’s tactical approach and his ability to connect with players on a personal level.
The exact reason behind Rashford’s strained relationship with Amorim remains unclear, but there’s speculation that he may move to a more prominent club this summer. Barcelona reportedly showed some interest during the winter window.
Following Aston Villa’s narrow Champions League exit to PSG—winning 3-2 on the night but losing 5-4 on aggregate—Emery commended Rashford’s performance, noting his assist and overall contribution.
“He’s feeling comfortable and better, today he played a fantastic match,” said Emery. “The most important thing is that if he’s happy, we are happy. It [signing him in the summer] is difficult to plan now.
“Then, of course, it depends on the circumstances and what happens in the next weeks, and [what we have] in the next year as well.”
Rashford conceded that he was “enjoying his football” after he scored a brace in the FA Cup quarter-final game against Preston on March 30.
“I think I can get fitter, I missed a lot of football before joining up with them, my body feels good, injury free and just enjoying my football for now,” Rashford told BBC Sport.
“It’s a great feeling, I feel like I’ve been slowly getting better and playing better football since I’ve been here.”
