Widely regarded as one of football’s all-time greats, Ronaldo is the highest scorer in the history of club and international football.

During his time at Madrid, Ronaldo shared the pitch with some of the world’s best players, earning widespread admiration for his dedication and approach to the game.
However, in a talkSPORT interview, former teammate Rafael van der Vaart gave Ronaldo an unusual compliment about his work ethic—one that caught everyone’s attention for its unexpected phrasing.
He said: “He never left his house!
“I always say as a joke – Ronaldo is the only player that I never saw his penis. He was the first one on the training pitch and the last one who went.
“First of all, his body, wow! A machine. He was a little bit ahead of his time, players now are the same. But the training in the gym, food, sleep… for him that was more important than training extra hard.”
He said: “Ronaldo was unbelievably selfish, if we won 6-0 and he did not score, he was not happy. When we lose but he scored twice, it’d be alright.”
Van der Vaart’s ‘unbelievably selfish’ quote was published on another Instagram page – and Ronaldo decided to respond to him with a four-word comment.
He simply wrote: “Who is this guy?”
Ronaldo turns 40 in February but has signalled his intention to keep playing with Al Nassr, including the 2026 World Cup.
He said: “I just want to enjoy playing football. Planning my retirement, whether it’s in one or two years, I don’t know.
“I will soon turn 40, and as long as I feel motivated, I will keep going.”
