“We’re more than meeting,” Trump said about the Saudi prince’s visit. “We’re honouring Saudi Arabia, the crown prince.”
According to US outlet MS NOW, three White House officials have verified Ronaldo’s upcoming visit, which will take place just hours after FIFA president Gianni Infantino made a notable appearance at the Oval Office.
Ronaldo is expected to be one of the key figures at the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19 next year.
The tournament is likely to be among the topics discussed between Trump and Ronaldo, who has already spoken publicly about what he hopes to address with the President.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo expressed his desire to meet Trump and said his “main objective” would be to talk about world peace, along with something “we have in common”—though he didn’t specify what that was.
“If the world is at peace, that’s our goal. He’s one of the people who can change or help change the world. And that’s my main objective: to meet Trump and talk about world peace,” he told Piers Morgan Uncensored.
“If you can make it happen, he’s someone I’d really like to sit down with.”
Ronaldo added: “Here, in the United States – wherever it happens, I’d like to meet him. I know he’s been to Saudi Arabia. I hope to sit down with him someday because he’s one of those people I really like. I think he can make things happen, and I respect people like that.”
“I hope the world finds a path to peace soon,” Ronaldo added. “That’s what I’m looking for. And someday, if I get the chance to sit down with him, I’ll tell him what we have in common. But I’ll keep it to myself until that moment.”
Ronaldo has already stated that next summer’s World Cup will be his final major international tournament before retirement, although he may miss Portugal’s opening match.
