Now that the season has concluded, attention shifts to what lies ahead for the winger.
Reports indicate that his loan deal from Manchester United included an option for Chelsea to make the move permanent.
Despite flashes of brilliance throughout the campaign, Sancho’s future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain.
It is believed that Chelsea may choose not to activate the purchase clause, which would require them to pay a penalty fee to send him back to Old Trafford.
The report stated: “There are indications they will opt against taking up their £25m option to turn Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United into a permanent deal.
“Chelsea will have to pay a £5m penalty clause if Sancho, who came off the bench to score against Betis, is sent back to Old Trafford. Maresca likes the former Borussia Dortmund winger but must consider whether the 25-year-old has been consistent enough.”
Chelsea are reportedly considering Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams as potential transfer targets.
Following Chelsea’s latest match, former club legend Joe Cole voiced his support for retaining Jadon Sancho, urging the team to keep him in their plans.
He said: “He’s been rotated in and out a bit but I want to see Jadon playing. You want a player like that in your squad. It will come down to a financial decision I imagine but I really like him.
“This is a kid who went to Dortmund and was a superstar as a kid. It wasn’t working at Man United but he’s done well, he’s got his career back on track at Chelsea.”
Cole added: “I think there’s more to come from him as well.”
