Jadon Sancho pictured in Man Utd training after positive talks with Ten Hag

Manchester United seem to have given Jadon Sancho a new opportunity after the forward had constructive discussions with Erik ten Hag and rejoined pre-season training.

The 24-year-old had been excluded from United’s first-team squad following a public disagreement with Ten Hag last season and spent the latter part of the campaign on loan with his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Returning to Germany seemed to revitalize Sancho, and the England international excelled in the Champions League, helping Dortmund reach the final, where they were ultimately defeated by Real Madrid.

Sancho’s future was uncertain after his temporary stint in the Bundesliga ended earlier this summer, with some reports suggesting the winger was looking for a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

However, Sancho was in good spirits during pre-season training at Carrington today, and Sky Sports reports that both the forward and Ten Hag have reflected on their previous conflict and agreed to move forward.

It is understood that the former Manchester City academy player will be available for United’s pre-season matches, starting with an away game against Rosenborg in Norway on Monday night.

The Red Devils will also face Rangers, Arsenal, Real Betis, and arch-rivals Liverpool before their Community Shield match against City on August 10. Five days later, Ten Hag’s team will begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag had previously given little indication that Sancho might be welcomed back at United but had praised the attacker’s impressive performance in Dortmund’s semi-final first leg win over Paris Saint-Germain in May.

‘So let’s say this – yesterday he played very good and he’s a very good player,’ the United head coach told reporters at the time.

‘Yesterday he showed why Manchester United bought him and he showed he represents a high value for Manchester United, which is good.

‘I’m happy for Jadon, for the performance yesterday, and we’ll see what is going to happen in the future.’

The disagreement between Ten Hag and Sancho began when Ten Hag accused the Englishman of not reaching the ‘level’ required to be included in United’s squad for their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Sancho responded, insisting he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ in a post on X which was later deleted.

‘Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week,’ Sancho wrote.

‘I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been made a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.

‘I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.

‘I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!’
