Sir Jim Ratcliffe faces ‘nightmare’ over Man Utd’s Casemiro

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly encountering a ‘nightmare’ in his efforts to offload Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

The club is eager to sell the Brazilian international, who has faced challenges with both form and fitness this season.

Manager Erik ten Hag is looking to reinforce the squad in the current January transfer window, but player sales are necessary to boost the available transfer budget.

Casemiro has been enticed by a lucrative offer to move to Saudi Arabia, and Paris Saint-Germain has also been linked to the 31-year-old.

However, The Sun reports that Ratcliffe, who is taking charge of football operations at Old Trafford, has faced setbacks in his attempts to sell Casemiro.

The British billionaire is reportedly concerned about Casemiro’s £350,000-a-week salary and the fact that the player has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.

Given that Casemiro is approaching 32 and has struggled with injuries this season, there are few, if any, clubs willing to meet such a high salary demand.

Casemiro returned to full training ahead of United’s FA Cup third-round clash against Wigan Athletic this week.

Jamie Carragher recently criticized Ten Hag’s decision to sign Casemiro in 2022, labeling it as ‘terrible.’

Since joining from Real Madrid, Casemiro has made 63 appearances for the Red Devils, contributing 11 goals and seven assists.
