A statement from the club read: “Liverpool Football Club can announce Arne Slot has agreed a deal to become the club’s new head coach, formally taking up the position on June 1, 2024, subject to a work permit.
“The 45-year-old will join the Reds from Feyenoord ahead of the 2024-25 season after a deal was reached with the Eredivisie club for his services.”
Although he is yet to begin his work at Liverpool, it was claimed that Slot has already made a major decision ahead of the new campaign.
As reported by The Telegraph’s Chris Bascombe, who wrote: “Slot has brought his first pre-season training sessions forward by a week – the squad will reconvene in the first week of July – so he can begin acclimatising to his new environment.
“Those representing their country at Euro 2024 and Copa America will return later, depending on how far they progress in the tournament.”
Arne Slot garnered acclaim in the Netherlands due to his remarkable work with AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord.
At Feyenoord, based in Rotterdam, Slot guided the team to the UEFA Europa Conference League final during his inaugural season and secured the Eredivisie title in the following season.
Speaking about his move to Merseyside, 45-year-old Slot said: “It is certainly not an easy decision to close the door behind you at a club where you have experienced so many wonderful moments and worked successfully with so many wonderful people.
“But as a sportsman, an opportunity to become a head coach in the Premier League, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, is difficult to ignore.”
