Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he has no concerns over Sir Alex Ferguson’s comments about starting Cristiano Ronaldo in every match for Manchester United.
Ronaldo has already scored six goals in five games since returning to Old Trafford but was named among the substitutes in United’s final match before the international break against Everton.
The Portuguese forward came on in the second-half but a 1-1 draw saw the Red devils drop points at home for the second game running.
Ferguson seemed to disagree with the decision to bench Ronaldo, who scored a late winner just days before in the Champions League against Villarreal.
Ferguson was filmed talking to former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at Old Trafford after the game, telling him about Ronaldo that ‘you should always start your best players.’
Addressing the comments in Friday’s press conference, Solskjaer was calm over the comments, pointing out Ferguson would have made similar decisions to protect his key players.
‘I’m quite relaxed about it,’ said Solskjaer. ‘I disagreed with the gaffer quite a few times and I told my wife quite a few times that I disagreed with him, but that never made headlines as a player.
‘I’m sure Sir Alex knows that it doesn’t bother me. We all want to see Cristiano. We all want to, because he’s unique, he’s different, he’s had a career and everyone wants to come and watch him.
‘But the plain fact of it is he cannot play every single game that we play, that’s just physical nature, human nature.
‘He knows how difficult this job is anyway, the gaffer. He didn’t always play the same eleven.
‘He took some risks at times to rest Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney or David Beckham, the best players that we had. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.’
