Ten Hag risks wrath of unhappy Man Utd stars by refusing training ground requests

Erik ten Hag is standing firm against the requests of senior Manchester United players seeking more days off and a more advanced notice of their training schedule.

The United manager has reportedly received several complaints from members of the players’ leadership group in recent weeks regarding their workload.

The primary concerns revolve around the limited rest days provided and the squad’s inability to plan their time off.

Ten Hag provides a weekly training schedule to United’s players, with the flexibility to make changes based on results. However, some players are expressing a desire for more extended planning horizons.

The leadership group, consisting of senior players such as Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, and reserve goalkeeper Tom Heaton, has voiced these concerns, although not all members have lodged complaints. The majority of the squad remains supportive of the manager.

In response to their concerns, Ten Hag has reportedly taken an uncompromising stance.

He emphasized that playing for a prestigious club like United requires the highest standards of dedication and sacrifice, urging the players to be ready to put their bodies on the line.

While Ten Hag has granted occasional extra days off this season, he maintains that the Premier League is becoming more physically demanding, and he makes no apologies for the high expectations he places on his players.
