Pochettino reveals which Man Utd player excites him

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed his admiration for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

As both teams aim to revive their seasons, Chelsea recently secured a hard-fought victory against Brighton & Hove Albion, propelling them back into the top half of the Premier League.

Pochettino’s comments come ahead of their upcoming clash with Manchester United, who, under Erik ten Hag, dropped to seventh place after a defeat to Newcastle United.

The coach was queried about his thoughts on Garnacho, a fellow Argentine who has earned a spot in the national team over the past year.

“He is an exciting player, young and talented,” Pochettino replied. “It’s not surprising to us because we knew about him when he was in Spain before moving to Manchester. It’s good to see a young player being brave and showing the talent that he is showing.

“He is Argentinian and Spanish. He is the opposite of me because I am Argentinian-Spanish; he is Spanish-Argentinian.

“It’s exciting because it’s good to have these type of players for the national team and I’m excited to see him on the pitch.”

While Garnacho was born and raised in Spain, he chose to represent Argentina, a eligibility derived from his mother. He advanced through the youth systems of Getafe and Atletico Madrid before joining Manchester United in 2020.

In contrast, Pochettino, who holds Spanish citizenship, spent over a decade at Espanyol as both a player and manager.

He frequently returned to his Barcelona home during holidays. Notably, his sons Sebastiano, a member of Chelsea’s coaching staff, and Maurizio, who plays for Gimnastic Tarragona, were born in Spain.
