With Petr Čech in goal and Claude Makélélé as a world-class defensive midfielder, it’s no surprise Chelsea were so tough to beat.
Despite their record, Terry believes their defense shouldn’t have been breached even as many times as it was.
‘I recently got sent this list of the 15 goals we conceded in 2004/05, I can’t help but be annoyed but also very proud to be part of a great team,’ he wrote on Instagram.
‘Going over the games and goals in my head thinking this should be 10 or less. records are there to be broken, but I’m not sure 15 goals conceded in the Premier League will ever be beat.’
Cech, meanwhile, responded to Terry’s post pointing out he missed the last two matches of that season, as did his captain.
‘Neither did I mate,’ Terry retorted. ‘I had an operation on my toe so I would be fit for pre-season. So me and you only conceded 13.’
