Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said he had full faith in the makeshift defence he selected to play against Brentford on Saturday.
Deprived of the services of Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger, Tuchel chose to hand a league debut to Malang Sarr, while Chalobah was handed another opportunity to impress alongside Andreas Christensen.
Explaining his team selection, Tuchel said: ‘It’s always like this there are no easy games where you can test stuff, either you can trust or you don’t trust.
‘Malang was strong in the cup game, Andreas has played now many games at the highest level, Trevor was strong on every game he played with us we have no doubt about him.
‘Malang is the guy who gets his debut but he has strong players around him.’
