Patrick Vieira on Gallagher

Patrick Vieira heaped praise on Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher after his superb performance in Crystal Palace’s 3-0 victory against Tottenham.

The Eagles manager got his first win since taking charge in the summer as a Wilfried Zaha penalty and Odsonne Edouard brace downed 10-man Tottenham with Tanganga seeing.

While Edouard made the headlines on his debut with the two goals, it was another addition which caught Vieira’s eye.

‘Conor loves football,’ he said. ‘He’s got a lot of energy and he would play well under any manager because of the passion he has for the game.

‘The energy he is bringing to the team is fantastic.’

Gallagher provided the assist for Palace’s third goal by setting up Edouard and worked tirelessly in midfield.

His display follows on from his own brace against West Ham in a 2-2 draw last time as Palace picked up their second point of the season.

Today’s performance at Selhurst Park had been a work in progress with Vieira working on implementing his own pattern since replacing Roy Hodgson.

And while the former Arsenal player says managing in the Premier League is ‘challenging,’ he is enjoying working with his staff.

‘It’s going to be challenging. The Premier League is really challenging,’ he added.

‘Since I’ve been here I am surrounded by people who have experience in the Premier League and lovely people. I have really good staff around.

‘We are not going to get carried away because there is still a lot of work today.’
