Vini Jr has soared to the top of world football in recent years and was crowned the best men’s player at the 2024 FIFA Best Awards on Tuesday night.

Vinicius Jr received FIFA’s top individual men’s award at a ceremony in Doha, just before Real Madrid’s Intercontinental Cup final match against Pachuca, which will also take place in the Qatari capital.
The Brazilian star is expected to start against the Mexican team at the Lusail Stadium, where the 2022 World Cup final was held.
Should Madrid win, it will be the 14th trophy Vinicius Jr has secured since joining the European and Spanish champions from Flamengo in 2018.
He has won three La Liga titles, two Champions League trophies, two FIFA Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups with Madrid.
The Brazil international has already scored an impressive 96 goals in 286 games for Madrid and has recently been valued at €200m (£165m) by Transfermarkt, making him the joint-most valuable player in the world alongside Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
Vini Jr is contracted with Madrid until 2027 and shows no signs of leaving the Bernabeu anytime soon. However, he has revealed where he would like to go if he ever decides to leave Madrid.
“I think I could stay here my whole career, but the club of my life is Flamengo,” he told L’Equipe in 2023.
“I love life here in general, and it’s going well for my family too. When my loved ones walk around, they are recognised and they wish us nothing but happiness.
“Little by little, I discovered this new life, new emotions, a fervour… Madrid is unique. Everyone around the world tells me about this club.
“And apart from that, I like it. I’m quite a homebody, but we do a lot of activities.”
