Aaron Wan-Bissaka to get new position if Man Utd complete Trippier transfer

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be deployed at centre-back in pre-season if they complete a move for Kieran Trippier.

Trippier is keen on a return to the Premier League and has been looking at houses in the north-west in preparation for a possible move to the club.

Solskjaer believes his team need a more attack-minded full-back as teams often leave Wan-Bissaka in possession, given his strength is in defence and not his attacking.

The Red devils have worked tirelessly to improve Wan-Bissaka in attack since his arrival from Crystal Palace and though progress has been made, Solskjaer feels he needs competition.

But, Solskjaer doesn’t want Wan-Bissaka to find himself on bench should Trippier arrive and the Sun claim he will be given a shot at centre-back if Trippier arrives.

United are on the lookout for a partner for Harry Maguire in defence but Wan-Bissaka could be played at right centre-back in pre-season to see if he could fill the void.

Solskjaer played three at the back regularly when he took over as manager but has only used it sparingly since.

But, should Wan-Bissaka impress in the central role, United could move to a back three with the player on the outside with Maguire and Lindelof making up the rest of the backline.

Trippier moved to Atletico for £20m from Tottenham in 2019 and he has two years to run on his contract in Spain.

But the right-back is keen on a return to England after winning La Liga with Atletico and his family reside in the north-west.

United are interested in Jadon Sancho, Trippier and a centre-back, with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane considered as a priority.
