However, Barcelona battled to a thrilling 3-3 draw with Inter in the first leg of their semi-final clash last week.
Earlier in the season, Yamal had tipped Liverpool as the leading contenders to lift the Champions League trophy instead of Barcelona.
He told MD: “I think that only Liverpool are more favourites than us in Champions League… as they arrived first.
“We can compete to win it. We can be there.”
At the time, Barca manager Flick also said that Liverpool could be his team’s biggest threat for this year’s crown.
“The future will tell whether we are among the favourites or not,” Flick said in January.
“The Champions League is one of the most difficult competitions to win, but we have to try. When I look at Liverpool, I see a team with incredible power. They are one of my favourite teams in the world right now. We are doing well, but there are very good teams that are also doing well, and we are contending on three fronts [Champions League, LaLiga and Copa del Rey].”
But, both Yamal and Flick have since been proved wrong as Liverpool were knocked out in the round of 16 by Paris Saint Germain.
The pair had to be separated via a penalty shootout, with Luis Enrique’s side coming out on top after crucial misses from Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez.
