Zidane responds to Gareth Bale fooling around on Madrid’s bench

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says he has ‘no complaints’ about Gareth Bale after he continued to mess around on the bench during their 2-1 victory over Granada on Monday.

Just last week, the Welshman pulled his face mask over his eyes and pretended to be sleeping while he sat on the bench during Madrid’s win over Alaves.

The former Tottenham forward, who is on a £600,000-a-week contract at the Bernabeu, has now been left on the bench for the third match in a row and hasn’t featured for Madrid in their last five games.

And during Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Granada, Gareth Bale was seen joking around again on the bench as he made a binoculars gesture with a roll of medical tape.

When asked about the player after Madrid’s win over Granada, Zinedine Zidane said: ‘I have no complaints about Bale, absolutely none.

‘We are all in this together and thinking about winning the remaining matches to win La Liga.’

Real Madrid are now set to win the La Liga title as a victory over Villarreal on Thursday will guarantee them the trophy for the first time since the 2016/17 season.

But when asked if his side are closer to the league title after their ninth consecutive league victory, Zidane said: ‘No, there are two games left.

‘We have a game at home now that is very difficult against an opponent who plays well.’
