Mason Mount’s father hits out ‘bulls***’ reports over Kai Havertz move to Chelsea

Mason Mount

Mason Mount’s father has blasted reports which claim that his son is unhappy after Chelsea’s decision to sign Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz this summer.

Chelsea finally completed the deal to sign the Germany international from Bayer Leverkusen this week after several weeks of speculation.

Havertz’s transfer means that there will be more competition for a place in Chelsea’s midfield and attack this campaign after the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech this summer.

And according to Bild, Mason Mount is unhappy with the signing of Havertz and is concerned he will lose his place in the side to the club-record signing.

However, Mount’s father, Tony, has strongly denied those claims as he replied to the report about the player’s unhappiness on Twitter with several laughing face emojis and the word ‘bulls***’.

Mount played 53 matches for the blues last season, scoring eight goals and also adding six assists.

Speaking earlier this year, Mount also made it clear that he had no issues with Chelsea strengthening their squad in the summer window.

‘For me, it’s about having that same attitude I have had since I was six and making sure I never lose it.

‘You just have to fight. You know Chelsea can always buy £60 million or £70m or £80m players that are world-class. They want to come here and take my place.

‘Just because I am an academy boy and young, that doesn’t mean anything. But the mentality I have means I won’t be pushed over easily. ‘I will fight for my position and keep working hard.

‘At a club as big as Chelsea you have to have that mentality. It always stuck with me. It’s why I am here in the first place.’
