Real Madrid are interested in signing Reece James, having already completed a deal to sign fellow Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger’s free transfer to Madrid is set be announced soon, ending months of speculation surrounding the m centre-back’s future.
But Los Blancos, who have a history of shopping at Stamford Bridge having bought players like Eden Hazard and Courtois in the past, are also keen to sign right-back James.
Goal claim that Madrid enquired about the 22-year-old’s availability but will not make their move until next year, when he is closer to the end of his Chelsea contract which expires in 2025.
James has been a star for his club since breaking through into the first-team in 2019, and has made 11 goal contributions in 21 league matches so far this season.
He would be viewed as the long-term successor to Dani Carvajal as Madrid still continue to sign some of the best young players in the world.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now focusing on securing the services of PSG attacker Kylian Mbappe on a free, as well as Aurelien Tchouameni, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool.
No transfers in or out of the club can be sanctioned at the moment however, until Chelsea’s new owners are installed at the club, and as a result the fate of many of their players is up in the air.
Andreas Christensen looks set to follow Rudiger to Spain, while club skipper Cesar Azpilicueta continues to be linked to the Catalan club despite recently extending his contract with Blues.
Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso and Thiago Silva are all out of contract next summer as well, and none are guaranteed to stay, in spite of their achievements at the club.
