Man Utd star considering exit with Dortmund open to loan deal this summer

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in bringing Jadon Sancho back to the club this summer with his future at Manchester United still uncertain.

The England star has struggled to live up to his £72m price tag since arriving from Germany in 2021, having scored only nine goals in 55 appearances.

Sancho, who trained away from the first-team squad for three months earlier in the campaign, turned in improved displays at the end of the Premier League season but was anonymous in United’s FA Cup defeat to Man City, replaced by Alejandro Garnacho in the second-half.

Reports in April claimed Erik ten Hag has become impatient with Sancho, with claims the Red Devils are now looking to sign another left winger this summer casting more doubt on his future.

Sancho emerged as one of Europe’s best young players at Dortmund with Bild claiming a return could be on the cards this summer window.

While there have not yet been any direct talks over the transfer, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Khel has been in contact with Sancho’s advisors at Project Elite Group.

The report adds Man United would be ready to accept a loss on Sancho and cash in for £55m. Dortmund however are not willing to pay that fee and will only consider a loan move.

Sancho is open to leaving Old Trafford this summer, the report adds.

While Sancho has shown glimpses of what he can deliver at United this campaign, former striker Dwight Yorke claims he is on ‘borrowed time’ at Old Trafford.

‘He’s really struggled, whether it’s from a mental point of view, which seems to be well documented. He hasn’t really lived up to the price tag,’ Yorke said.

‘So yeah, he’s on borrowed time, I suppose, because he hasn’t really produced the goods that we expected.

‘Maybe he should be given another chance, another lifeline. But he’s on borrowed time as far as I’m concerned.’
