Atalanta have turned down a €35m (£31m) offer from Manchester United for Rasmus Hojlund but are ready to accept an offer of around £39million.
The Red Devils hope to wrap up the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea next week and are in discussions with Inter Milan to sign Andre Onana.
With their spending power limited this summer, the Premier League club have been priced out of moves for Harry Kane & Victor Osimhen with Tottenham & Napoli valuing the players more than £100m.

Hojlund is another option under serious consideration with the Denmark international reported to be keen to link up with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Latest reports from Corriere dello Sport claim Man United have seen their opening offer of £31m rejected by Atlanta, who signed Hojlund from Sturm Graz last summer for £15m.
But, the report claims Atalanta will agree on a sale if they receive an offer in the region of £34m to £39m.
Hojlund scored nine goals in 32 matches in his first campaign in Serie A and recently welcomed talk of a move to Old Trafford.
‘It is a huge club, so I must have done something right if it’s rumoured they want me. We have to see what happens,’ he said.
‘As you see and hear, I imagine a lot could happen to quite a few strikers this summer, as many clubs are looking for a no9.
‘Something will definitely happen there, and then we’ll have to wait and see if I am included in it.
‘I am very happy to be with Atalanta and we have qualified for Europe. I have found myself in a really good place here, so now we have to wait and see.’
