Erik ten Hag tells Man Utd board to submit £52m bid for Atalanta star

Manchester United will submit an opening offer of up to £52million before bonuses to sign Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.

The Danish star is on United’s radar after the club pulled out of the race to sign Harry Kane, deciding that Spurs’ £100m valuation was too much.

While Erik ten Hag had been keen to sign a proven striker, Napoli’s £130m valuation of Victor Osimhen has put the Red Devils off a move for the Nigerian star.

It has led the Dutchman to expand his search and Hojlund, 20, who is considered one of the brightest youngsters in Europe.

The Manchester United fan sent the rumour mill into overdrive this week when he conceded he could leave the club this summer.

Ten Hag has made it clear that, despite uncertainty over United’s ownership, that he wants his business done early this summer.

According to reports in Italy, they will submit a £52m opening offer for Hojlund after starting talks through intermediaries in recent weeks.

While Atalanta are hopeful of extracting up to £63m, the two teams are not far apart in their valuations.

Hojlund has often been compared to Erling Haaland for his style of play and Scandinavian background.
