Roman Abramovich shows no sign of giving up on his dedication to Chelsea as it’s emerged that he requested footage from the Blues’ recent behind-closed-doors friendly match with Peterborough so that he could watch them from his luxury yacht.
The Blues kicked off their pre-season campaign by thrashing the Posh 6-1 in a friendly at Chelsea’s Cobham training base.
Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham took part from Chelsea’s first team, while Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley were back at the London club after loan spells at Fulham and Aston Villa respectively.
There has been some claims that Abramovich’s commitment to the club has dwindled in recent years, after the Russian was denied a visa that allowed him to stay in UK.
But, the Chelsea owner’s commitment surely cannot be questioned after the Daily Mail claim he requested a live stream of Chelsea’s friendly against Peterborough so that he could watch them while on holiday.
Abramovich will have been pleased with what he saw as Tuchel’s team put six past the Posh, with Abraham, Pulisic and Armando Broja all getting on the scoresheet.
But it was the hat-trick from Hakim Ziyech that may have caught Abramovich’s eye, with the player hoping to put a difficult debut season behind him as he enters his second campaign at Stamford Bridge.
