Emmanuel Adebayor predicts Premier League title winners

Emmanuel Adebayor has expressed skepticism about Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, cautioning that the team might lose ground in the title chase as they approach their last three matches.

Arsenal intensified the competition for the title with a nail-biting 3-2 victory against Tottenham in the recent north London derby on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s squad was ahead 3-0 by the break and managed to hold off a determined comeback from Spurs to secure three vital points, along with the local bragging rights.

This win propelled Arsenal to a four-point lead at the summit of the Premier League, but Manchester City narrowed this lead to a single point shortly after, by defeating Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground.

Manchester City, with an extra game to play, holds the advantage for the Premier League title. However, Arsenal could exert significant pressure on Pep Guardiola’s team by triumphing in their remaining three games, potentially ending the season with 89 points.

Considering their impressive goal difference, Arsenal’s success would compel Manchester City to secure victories in all their four remaining games if they wish to clinch an unprecedented fourth consecutive title.

Adebayor, with over a century of appearances for Arsenal and subsequent stints at Manchester City and Tottenham, remains uncertain if the Gunners can sustain their winning streak in the crucial final phase of the season.

‘Anything is possible with Arsenal because we all know how good they can play,’ he said on Premier League Productions after the London derby. ‘This team is very young and very talented.

‘But am I sure they’re going to get nine points? I’m not sure. Anything can happen. We saw a couple of weeks ago they lost at home to Aston Villa.

‘Whereas if you ask me can Man City win their next 20 games I would say yes because they have proved they can do it. Arsenal are looking better and stronger but I’m not sure they are going to win their last three games.’

Emmanuel Adebayor, known for his controversial celebration against Arsenal while playing for Manchester City, has admitted to not being particularly impressed with Kai Havertz.

Despite a sluggish beginning at Arsenal after his £65 million transfer from Chelsea, Havertz has become an integral part of Arteta’s team.

His performance has notably improved since the start of this year, highlighted by scoring twice against his old team in a 5-0 victory last week and netting another goal in the game against Tottenham on Sunday.

Assessing Havertz before the derby, Adebayor said: ‘He has adapted well, but I am not a big fan of the player, to be honest.

‘He isn’t that strong and when you are playing up front for a team like Arsenal. First and foremost, you have to be strong and you have to be clever. He’s a very good player with the feet.

‘Football is a game, whenever you score, you are the hero and when you don’t score, then you are the villain.

‘If he doesn’t score and Arsenal ends up losing, then the fans won’t be happy about it.

‘But if he manages to score a goal and get a win for his team, as he is doing at the end of the season for his team, then he will be the hero.’
