Aubameyang taunts Tottenham ahead of north London derby

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang concedes he does not want Tottenham to qualify for the Champions League and says he cannot enjoy Spurs’ dynamic style of football because of the rivalry.

Tottenham have been widely praised for their amazing performance against Chelsea on Saturday as they ended Maurizio Sarri’s unbeaten run with a 3-1 win.




Spurs will be looking to repeat that performance on Sunday when they face Arsenal at the Emirates.

Asked whether if he enjoying Tottenham’s recent performances, Aubameyang said: ‘The rivalry is too much…

‘But we know they are playing well. We know that it will be a tough game but we have to be focused on what we are doing.

‘We know that if we want to win we need to work a lot.

‘Both teams are playing well in this moment so we feel the atmosphere and the excitement. Everybody is talking about this game. It is always special to play a derby.’




Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League, a point below Chelsea and three behind Tottenham.

Asked if both north London clubs could qualify for next year’s Champions League, Aubameyang added : ‘As an Arsenal player, we hope that only Arsenal get into the Champions League.

‘But we know it is tough and maybe both teams will go. It will be a great battle.’

Before welcoming Spurs to the Emirates, Arsenal continue their Europa League games with a trip to Ukraine to face Vorskla Poltava.




Arsenal are currently top of Group E and can secure a place in the knockout stages of the competition with another win on Thursday.
