Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tells Aouar to sign for Arsenal

Aubameyang

Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has urged Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar to complete a transfer to the Emirates before the window closes.

The 22-year-old is seen as one of the finest talents in Europe and he’s believed to be interested in a move to north London.

But, Arsenal have had two offers for the midfielder turned down by Lyon as the bids have fallen short of the Ligue 1 club’s £44m asking price.

With just over a week left until the window closes, Arsenal are expected to make a third bid for the Frenchman and Lyon are under pressure to sell after failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

And Aubameyang has sent a message to the France international that he would like to see him join the London side in the next week.

Aubameyang signed a new deal with the club earlier this month and the Gabon international has sent a clear message to the midfielder that he would like to see him join in the next eight days.

Asked if he would like the club to sign Houssem Aouar, Aubameyang told Canal+: ‘Of course I am in favour [of signing him].

‘He would add quality. Let’s see what happens. ‘I cannot hide that, even if he is with Lyon.’

Aubameyang couldn’t help but laugh at the questions, clearly aware of how much speculation there has been over Arsenal’s interest in the player.

The 31-year-old forward is keen to see the club strengthen this summer window after signing a new three-year contract.

Aubameyang thought about leaving the Emirates before he was persuaded to stay by Arteta but the Gabonese forward wants the club to fulfill their promise of strengthening the team in the market.
