Bayern in crisis as Thomas Tuchel ‘offers himself’ to rival Champions League team

According to a recent report, representatives of Bayern Munich’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, have presented him with an offer from another Champions League club.

Tuchel, the former Chelsea boss, has led Bayern to the last 16 of the Champions League this season. However, they currently trail leaders Bayer Leverkusen by five points in the Bundesliga.

The 3-0 defeat to Xabi Alonso’s side marked Bayern’s third league loss of the season, intensifying their pursuit of a 12th consecutive league title.

Consequently, Tuchel is facing increased pressure, especially since his team clinched the title last season due to Borussia Dortmund’s failure to win their final match of the campaign.

After the defeat, Tuchel told reporters: “We had all week to prepare. We wanted to defend very high up the pitch, and that’s what we did.

“I think we managed that for a long time, but we also made incredibly bad decisions, especially after winning the ball. Then we lost our confidence.”

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the German coach has been exploring potential new opportunities in case he opts to depart from Bayern.

Journalist Fernando Polo asserts that Tuchel’s representatives have proposed his services to Barcelona, who will be seeking a new manager next season following Xavi’s departure.

Xavi has already announced his exit from Barca at the end of the campaign after a disappointing season that sees them trailing leaders Real Madrid by 10 points in the La Liga table.

However, he could conclude his tenure on a positive note by clinching the Champions League, with Barca and Bayern potentially crossing paths later in this season’s competition.

Mundo Deportivo additionally suggests that given Tuchel’s Champions League triumph with Chelsea in 2021, there is a belief that the 50-year-old would stand a strong chance of securing the Barcelona job if discussions were to occur.
