Following five seasons with Lyon’s senior squad, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he amassed 25 major honours, including five Champions League titles.
His most outstanding campaign came in 2021/22, when he netted 44 goals in 46 appearances, helping Real Madrid secure both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
That remarkable scoring run earned him the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career.
He remained in Spain for one more season before joining Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad in 2023 on a three-year deal.
With that contract due to end in June 2026, discussions have begun to surface regarding Benzema’s future plans.
In a recent conversation with Spanish publication AS, he confirmed that a return to Europe is still on the table.
He said: “It’s true that I have offers from Europe.
“I have to look at everything, choose wisely, and see where I feel comfortable, without forgetting that I feel good here and receive affection from everyone. But we’ll see.
“They ask me for things, and I give them things. Everything’s fifty-fifty, but there are things happening.
“I’m not going to quit football and stop competing in six months.”
While a comeback to Real Madrid would be ideal, Benzema made it clear that such a move hinges on the interest of club president Florentino Perez.
“If Florentino is still there, it could happen, it could happen,” Benzema continued.
“I talk to him and it’s possible. I’m a Real Madrid fan. I feel it in my soul.
“Madrid is still my city, I feel like a Real Madrid fan and a Madrileño. We’ll see what happens. If he’s there…”
Benzema also commended the progress of the Saudi Pro League, noting the improvements since he joined in 2023.
Al-Ittihad claimed the league title last season, with Benzema leading the team in scoring with 21 goals.
This season, however, the club has struggled and currently sits in eighth place, having collected only 11 points from their first eight fixtures.
Benzema has missed three of those matches due to injury, raising concerns about whether he can still meet the physical demands of elite competition.
