Best players don’t always win games – Van de Beek warns Solskjaer

Van de Beek

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has sent a warning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that best players don’t always win matches.

The Dutchman raised eyebrows when he picked his Manchester United five-a-side team and omitted some top stars, which includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

And this could be interpreted as a message to the Red devils manager as the Netherlands International has been facing a tough time at Old Trafford.

The addition of Ronaldo to the team has further compounded his woes. Appearing on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel FIVE, Van de Beek was to choose his United five-a-side team, he said, “That’s a good question.

“I think I would pick Raphael [Varane]. I am a big fan of Juan as well. “You have to pick Bruno [Fernandes], because he scores a lot of goals and a lot of assists. I would go for Luke Shaw, and Nemanja Matic as well.”

There were a few surprises in Van de Beek’s Man Utd lineup. And explaining his decision, Van de Beek added: “I think this team would win.

“We have so many players, I have to make a tactical decision – the best players don’t always win, the team wins.”

Many pundits and football fans have wondered why Solskjaer signed the player in the first place, having used the midfielder sparingly.

The Dutchman has also been criticised by pundits for refusing to leave the club this summer despite not finding playing time under the Norwegian coach.
