Edinson Cavani has dismissed speculation of a possible January move to Real Madrid, saying that he has not been affected by Cristiano Ronaldo’s return.
Cavani has had a slow start to the campaign after an extended summer break and the return of Ronaldo to Manchester United has offered more competition in the front three.
The Uruguayan forward has started only one game in all competitions, in the draw with Everton on Saturday as he replaced Ronaldo in the starting lineup, only to be replaced by the former Juve player in the second half.

With game time limited, Cavani has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but he is not interested in the speculation, dismissing it.
‘The season is just starting I can’t talk,’ he told ESPN. ‘They talk and they will always continue talking, and the press is like that too, they talk and they have to sell.’
The return of Ronaldo to United this summer, along with the summer arrival of Jadon Sancho, has made it much tough for Cavani to start games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He is competing with the two new signings, as well as Greenwood and Anthony Martial, with Marcus Rashford also expected to return from shoulder injury after the international break.
‘Those are things that happen,’ he said. ‘A lot of debate is created, but football is football and you don’t have to turn it around too much, it’s not because one or the other is there.
‘The important thing is to be prepared for when it’s your turn, you always want to play, he wants to be there forever, but that is not going to change my way of thinking or acting.’
