Trevoh Chalobah deletes Declan Rice tweet after abuse from Chelsea fans

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah deleted his Twitter post in which he praised Declan Rice after receiving huge backlash from fans.

After West Ham United’s 4-1 win over Leicester City on Monday evening, Rice posted a celebratory message to his followers on Twitter.

Chalobah took the opportunity to praise Rice’s outstanding display as he quoted the West Ham player’s message and wrote: ‘Big player.’

But, some Chelsea supporters were unhappy with the timing of Chalobah’s tweet as West Ham’s victory meant that they knocked the Blues off top spot in the Premier League.

Other Chelsea fans were unhappy that Chalobah was openly praising a rival player, while some supporters even told the youngster to leave the club

Chalobah eventually deleted the tweet which has now sparked huge support from Chelsea fans who recognised that he was simply praising his friend.

Rice, Chalobah and Mason Mount all played together at the  club’s academy before Rice was released at the age of 14 and signed for West Ham.

Many Chelsea fans also pointed out that John Terry praised Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe on Instagram during the club’s 2-0 win at the Emirates on Sunday.

Chalobah was expected to leave Stamford Bridge on loan this summer but his displays in pre-season have impressed Thomas Tuchel and he is now set to stay and fight for a first-team place.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are on the verge of selling Kurt Zouma to West Ham, while they will look to sign Sevilla central defender Jules Kounde before the deadline.
