This triumph added another prestigious title to Chelsea’s collection, making them the first club to have won all of UEFA’s major men’s competitions.
As a result of their success, Chelsea now faces a unique situation regarding the trophy.
Under UEFA rules, the club will receive a full-scale replica, while the original remains in the organization’s possession and control at all times.
UEFA rules say: “Replica trophies awarded to winners of the competition (past and current) must remain within the relevant club’s control at all times and may not leave the club’s country without UEFA’s prior written consent (in this respect, clubs must comply with any request from the UEFA administration to confirm the location of the club’s replica trophies).
“Clubs must not permit a replica trophy to be used in any context where a third party (including sponsors and other commercial partners) is granted visibility or in any other way that could lead to an association between any third party and the trophy and/or the competition. Clubs must comply with any trophy use guidelines that the UEFA administration issues.”
Chelsea secured the Conference League title this season and earned a spot in next year’s Champions League by finishing fourth in the Premier League.
They now have the opportunity to expand their collection of silverware as they prepare to compete in the Club World Cup, set to be held in the United States this summer.
